RESOLUTION NO. 12 FOR 2026

 

A RESOLUTION RATIFYING & ACKNOWLEDGING THE CITY OF SWEET HOME'S PARTICIPATION IN THE LINN COUNTY DEADLY PHYSICAL FORCE PLAN REVISIONS

 

WHEREAS, Oregon law requires counties to maintain a Deadly Physical Force Plan governing the investigation of incidents involving the use of deadly physical force by law enforcement officers; and

 

WHEREAS, Linn County revised its Deadly Physical Force Plan in 2019 to reorganize the document and incorporate statutory references for clarity and ease of use; and

 

WHEREAS, the 2019 revisions became effective upon receiving the approvals required by law, but formal approval by the City of Sweet Home was not presented to the City Council at that time; and

 

WHEREAS, Linn County has requested that the City formally acknowledge and ratify its participation in the revised plan to complete the record of participating jurisdictions;

 

 

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF SWEET HOME DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:

 

Section 1. The City Council hereby ratifies and acknowledges the City's participation in the Linn County Deadly Physical Force Plan revisions adopted in 2019.

            

Section 2. The City Manager is authorized to execute any documents necessary to evidence the City's acknowledgment of and participation in the revised Linn County Deadly Physical Force Plan and to provide a copy of this Resolution to Linn County.

 

Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage.

 

PASSED by the Council and approved by the Mayor this 9th day of June, 2026.
