RESOLUTION NO. 6 FOR 2026
A RESOLUTION CONCERNING STREET CLOSURES AND RESTRICTIONS FOR THE SWEET HOME HIGH SCHOOL MAY DAY PARADE
WHEREAS, Sweet Home High School has requested to hold the May Day Parade on May 15, 2026; and
WHEREAS, temporary traffic regulations are necessary to safely accommodate the May Day Parade; and
WHEREAS, Sweet Home Municipal Code 10.04.030 provides that the City Council may, by resolution, establish or alter traffic and parking control; and
WHEREAS, the Sweet Home City Council finds that it is in the best interest of the community that the May Day Parade be safely held as requested.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF SWEET HOME DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Traffic regulations shall be kept in effect as follows:

The parade route shall be as follows: beginning at the Sweet Home High School parking lot, proceeding onto 15th Avenue, east on Long Street to 22nd Avenue, south on 22nd Avenue, and concluding at the high school football field parking lot.

Streets and intersections along the route, including Long Street between 15th Avenue and 22nd Avenue, and intersections at 15th Avenue, 18th Avenue, and 22nd Avenue at Long Street, shall be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic from approximately 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM on May 15, 2026, or as directed by the City Manager or their designated representative.

Appropriate signs, barricades, and traffic control devices shall be installed by the Public Works Department to carry safely out the provisions of this resolution and shall become effective upon placement.

The Sweet Home Police Department shall assist with traffic control and provide escort for the parade.

The Public Works Department shall assist with placement and removal of traffic control devices and support event operations as needed.
