The Community and Economic Development Department has the responsibility of guiding the physical development of the City of Sweet Home through creation and implementation of policies, standards, and regulations designed to help ensure the health, safety, and welfare of our citizens while protecting the rights and privileges of property owners. The Community and Economic Development Department has the following divisions and programs.
The Planning Division is responsible for managing the City of Sweet Home Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Ordinance. The Planning Division also administers the City's codes for land divisions and property line adjustments. Planning Staff provides support to the Planning Commission and the Park and Tree Committee.
The Building Program is responsible for administering the City's building inspection program. The Building Division applies all applicable state structural, mechanical, plumbing plumbing, and manufactured dwelling codes. The Building Division reviews plans for permits, issues permits, and performs required inspections. Our building inspections are handled by Northwest Code Professionals on the mornings of Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays. Please schedule 24 hours in advance to ensure a time on the list.
The Economic Development Program coordinates economic development activities intended to increase the economic vitality of our city. The division also connects existing and future business owners with resources and other information that make conducting business in Sweet Home even easier.
