Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update - 8
SWEET HOME, Ore. March 17, 2020, 6:10 p.m.— The City of Sweet Home continues to move toward TIER III of our Pandemic Response Plan. With the increased numbers of COVID-19 cases in Lebanon and integration between our two communities for employment, medical services, and other essential needs, it is reasonable to assume there is an undiagnosed case in Sweet Home. During Tier III, city operations would be limited to essential functions. In addition to Tier I and II items, the following items would be implemented:
- Monitor messages from Federal, State, and County Public Health Authorities
- Notify Department Heads and employees of implementation of Tier III and why
- Implement Community notification through social media/news media with precautionary steps to take to prevent infection and spread
- Only essential functions should be at the workplace or on telephone stand-by
- Non-essential personnel should attempt to telework, if possible
After careful consideration, as of March 18th, 2020, city services will be as follows:
City Hall: CLOSED to the public. We will conduct normal business via telephone (541) 367-5128 or electronic means.
City Parks: OPEN normal hours.
Library: CLOSED until further notice. Library patrons can access books online through Library2Go. All due dates have been extended. Dates for items on hold have also be extended.
Municipal Courts: Proceedings will be canceled until April 30th, 2020. Payments may be made via telephone (541) 367-4660 or online.
Police: OPEN normal business hours. We have suspended public fingerprinting and request people to limit their visit to the lobby to emergency situations.
Public Works: Fully operational. CLOSED to the public. Not accepting deliveries.
Below is the latest information we have from our local partners. Their status may change, please click the link to get the most up to date information.
- Sweet Home Senior Center: Closed for two weeks. Wednesday lunch will still be served but will be take-out only (at the regular lunch price).
- Sweet Home School District: Schools will be closed March 16th- April 28th. They have provided COVID-19 Resources for Families and Online Learning Resources to assist families.
- Sweet Home Boys & Girls Club: Closed March 16th-27th. They will be serving to-go lunches between 11:30 am and 12:30 pm beginning Monday, March 16th. The to-go lunches can be picked up outside the building. Children must be present to collect the to-go lunch.
- Sweet Home Community Pool: Closed until further notice.
- Linn Shuttle: Continuing their regular routes (minus the Express). They will not transport anyone who appears ill in an effort to protect their drivers and passengers.
We do not anticipate making another update until Wednesday, March 18th, barring any major changes. If we learn of any important local information, we will update as needed.
